Steve Wong's chip for the DME cars seems to be the most highly regarded at the moment (911chips.com). These chips are still currently in development and offer a wide range of mapping for typical car setups (ie, a chip for 91 octane fuel with a stock engine, or 93 octane with an engine with SSIs and a cat bypass, etc - as well as custom mappings). Although I beleive all of his chips are 4k chips, and most 1985 DMEs will have the 2k unit (although this is an easy upgrade that mostly involves soldering a jumper).
In prior years, Authority was the leading name. Much like Steve Wong is doing now, they spent alot of time developing their product. However, they've not done any development in many years. Nonetheless though, this remains a good performer from what I've seen.
The other "name" chip you're likely to find would be Weltmeister (which was actually programmed by Dinan). A decent choice as far as providing some added performance over stock, though in my experience they run a bit lean at lower rpms and you may find your engine hunting at idle.
I am currently using a chip from Steve Wong. I do not know if it matches up to the others in terms of peak numbers, but in terms of usability it is by far the best performing of the chips I've had in the car over the years. The torque curve is greatly improved both compared to stock as well as the other chips I've had. Comparing two track events earlier this year, with the car the same between the two aside from swapping out for the newer chip (ambient temps were also very close between the two days)... despite the tires having had an extra event's wear my times were consisently more than a half second better (that might not sound like alot, but if you race or regularly do track events, you'll realize that is a massive difference).
