Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of questions should I ask?
Why anything and everything Automotive, of course! Just make sure your question is:
· Detailed and specific
· Written clearly and simply
· Of interest to other automotive enthusiasts
Before you ask, take a look around to see if your question has already been asked (and hopefully answered!). It's also perfectly fine to ask and answer your own question, but pretend you're on Jeopardy: phrase it in the form of a question.
Violating the law
Members of Carsmosis are not above the law (unfortunately), so don't post anything that violates the laws of your country, state, province, or city. Don't try to trick people into sharing their personal information, steal anything (like copyright or trademark material), or break into places you shouldn't be. Don't threaten, harass, impersonate, or hurt others, and don't invade other people's privacy.
What kind of questions should I not ask here?
Avoid asking questions that are subjective, argumentative, or require extended discussion. Carsmosis::Answers is not a discussion board, this is a place for questions that can be answered!
If you can't say anything nice.. try your best
Above all, we want our members to be honest. If a car sucks, tell the world. If you have found a great trick, or love a car, tell our users that too. But we do ask that your treat others with RESPECT. We're all here to learn together. Be tolerant of others who may not know everything you know. Oh, and bring your sense of humor, after all there is a great need for a sarcasm font.
Misuse of Carsmosis:Answers
Please do not create multiple accounts to phish or otherwise violate our guidelines and terms of service. Don't post things that are incomprehensible. Don't post the same question over and over again. If you try it cowboy, you'll be removed faster than you can type 'trouble' - which is what you'll be in.
The liar, liar pants-on-fire rule!
Above all, be honest. If you see misinformation, vote it down or insert your own comments (but be nice) and let the user know, what specifically, is wrong. Or, even better — edit and improve the information! If you answer it, they will come....
Do I have to log in or create an account?
The long of the short of it is, yes - It's kind of a rule. Depending on what you are trying to do. You may ask a question as anonymous, avoiding the need to login, however to answer you must login. It helps us keep douche-bag spammers out, and our beloved automotive enthusiasts in total control.

And if I don't get a good answer?
In order to get good answers, put your back into the question. Try editing your question to provide status and updates. Document your own continued efforts to answer your question. This will naturally bump your question and get more people interested in it. -And hey, while you're at it, give it a Tweet, or click "share" on the question page.
Why are some questions closed?
There are a number of reasons why Carsmosis would close some questions. Questions that are deemed off-topic may be closed, or if the best answer has been chosen and there is no need to continue with answers.
Can I use a signature or tagline?
Please don't use signatures or taglines in your posts. Every post you make is already "signed" with your username, which links directly back to your user page. Your user page will show users what you have asked, answered, vehicles you have posted, and the ability to contact you if they have questions.
Can other people can edit my S****?!
As if (think Paris Hilton). We aren't comfortable (yet) with people being able to alter your question. Users can however, critique your question, or continue the conversation below your original question. So if you ask a question, and it's a dumb questions, expect dumb answers. Not that there's such thing as a dumb question
Are there any search options?
Does a one-legged duck swim in a circle? You can search by keyword, or phrase from any page throughout the site. Just look for that hard to see orange search bar at the top of every page. Or, you can search by tag. Simply click on the tag within a question to find more questions on that topic.
And... Is that all?
No way - just the beginning. If you're looking for more detail, we have a limited selection of constantly evolving FAQs that document everything about the site. We are working on building a giant FAQ, so check back often if you answer isn't there - or shoot us a message on our contact-us page.

Carsmosis isn't for kids. Let's be honest, I'm sure you have come to the conclusion that this site is not appropriate for all ages. Unless they can't read. Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to ask, or answer questions on Carsmosis:Answers. Nor, are they allowed to become a member, or post vehicles (that would be just silly). To learn more about using Carmsosis:Answers safely, please visit our safety tips, and tricks page: (http://www.#.com)
